Training & Documentation
Warning Signs & Release Detection
Investigation & Release Confirmation
Cleanup Methods
During hours of operation, a UST facility, such as a gas station, airport, or commercial refueling depot, must have at least one employee present who holds a valid certificate from a UST Class A, Class B, or Class C Operator Training course. Class C operators must know emergency response procedures, such as: use of emergency shut-off equipment; the initial response procedures following system alarm warnings; the appropriate first response actions to releases, spills, or overfills; and the notification procedures to emergency responders.
Holding a Class C UST Operator Training certificate shows that you have the training to deal with an emergency situation relating to USTs, such as a leak of fuel product, contaminating surrounding soil, groundwater, or surface waters, or affecting indoor air spaces.
The UST Class C Operator Training Program consists of five easy-to-understand lessons, each with a quick quiz so you can be sure you understand the lesson and are prepared for the exam. To be awarded a Class C Operator Training certificate, you must view all lessons and quizzes, then take 10 question multiple choice exam, which you must pass with 70% to be awarded a certificate. If you don't pass the final exam the first time, no problem! You may retake both the training course and the exam, or skip the course and retake the exam as many times as you need.
Upon successful completion of this training program, you will understand:
Each lesson contains detailed information on the topic. The lessons have an optional voice over that will read the lesson out loud. After reviewing lesson materials, a 3-5 question quiz at the end will test what you have learned. Once you’ve completed all five lessons, you can take the final exam. You must score a passing grade of 70% to receive your Class C UST Operator Training certificate.
The Class C UST Operator Training Program is designed to be completed at your own pace. Most people finish this course in about 2 hours. However, you must complete each lesson before advancing to the next. Each lesson can be reviewed in 15 minutes or less. Quizzes should take 3 minutes each.
